This work is presented in an attempt to compile a single scriptural account of the life and activities of Jesus Christ. The four accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are incorporated together into one chronological account drawing all information in these together. This provides a clearer understanding of the actual events and dialog, as often up to four accounts of the same events can be brought to bear in establishing the full and peripheral details available. Many things sometimes thought to be confusing are clarified, re-establishing a closer and fuller account of events with clearer understanding of the dialog not so easy to ascertain when relying on just one witness. The reader should find this cleans the window into understanding why certain things were said and occurred not always clarified in our latest bibles. If you are a seeker of truth from the scriptures I trust you will find this of assistance in your bible study.
The account is by no means presumed to be free from all faults or errors but put forward for consideration by those who value and seek refined truth, I leave infallibility for others to claim. Getting back to the pristine original understanding of the dialogue and details of events is all important to our understanding the truths as explained by Jesus. We mortals are obligated to seek, research, refine, and polish the information contained in the scriptures in order to extract the pure words of truth. The batten is there for any to pick up and carry forward.
Period from summer 3 BC to October 29 CE.
The "word" identified as Jesus, reference to his pre human existence.
J1:1 In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was like God. J1:2 This one was along side God at the beginning. J1:3 Everything came into existence by means of him, and without his involvement nothing thing came into existence.
L1:1 Many have undertaken to compile a statement of the facts that are given full credence among us, L1:2 just as those who from (the) beginning became eye witnesses and attendants of the message delivered to us, L1:3 I (Luke) resolved also, because of having traced all things from the start accurately, to write them in logical order for you, most excellent Theophilus (Acts 1:1). L1:4 That you may know with complete certainty the things that you have been taught orally.
3 BC Jerusalem; John the Baptist foretold birth.
L1:5 In the days of Herod, the king of Judea, there happened to be a certain priest named Zechariah of the division of Abijar, who had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, her name was Elizabeth. L1:6 They both were acting wisely before God, walking blamelessly in accord with all the commandments and legal requirements of Yhwh. L1:7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were well along in years.
L1:8 Now as he was acting as priest in the assignment of his division before God L1:9 according to the solemn practice of the priestly office, it became his turn to offer incense when he entered the sanctuary of Yhwh; L1:10 while all the multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of offering incense. L1:11 Yahweh's angel appeared to him, standing at the right side of the incense alter. L1:12 Zechariah became disturbed at this sight, and afraid. L1:13 However the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your earnest petitions have been favourably heard, your wife Elizabeth will become mother to a son for you, and you are to call his name John (John = Yhwh's favourable good-will). L1:14 You will gain pleasure and great happiness, and many will rejoice over his birth; L1:15 for he will be great under Yhwh's oversight. But he must drink no wine or strong drink at all, and he will be filled with special power (holy spirit) right from his mother's womb; L1:16 and many of the sons of Israel he will turn back to Yhwh their God. L1:17 Also under his oversight he will go ahead of Him with the power and spirit of Elijah, to change back hearts of fathers to that of children's and disobedient ones to sensible understanding of wise ones, to get ready for Yhwh a prepared people."
L1:18 Zechariah said to the angel: "How can I be sure of this? For I am old and my wife is well along in years." L1:19 In reply the angel said to him: "I am Gabriel, who stands in God's presence under His oversight, and I was sent to speak with you and declare these things as good news to you. L1:20 But, look! you will be silent and unable to speak until the day on which these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be completed at their set time," L1:21 Meanwhile the people continued waiting for Zechariah, and they began to wonder at his delay in the sanctuary. L1:22 But when he did come out he was not able to speak to them, and they realised that he had seen a supernatural sight in the sanctuary; and he was making signs to them, but remained dumb (9 months). L1:23 When, the days of his public service were completed, he went off to his home.
L1:24 After these days Elizabeth his wife became pregnant; and she kept herself secluded for five months, ( until mid-Chislev 3 BC, early December 3 BC) saying: L1:25 "This is what Yhwh has done for me at this time when he has looked favourably on me and removed my dishonour from among the people."
Foretold birth of Jesus.
L1:26 In her (Elizabeth's) sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, L1:27 to a virgin who was promised in marriage to a man named Joseph out of the house of David; and the virgins name was Mary. L1:28 On entering (her house) he said to her: "Greetings to you highly favoured one, Yhwh is with you." L1:29 On hearing these words she was very confused and was trying to reason out what sort of greeting this might be. L1:30 So the angel said to her: "Do not be afraid Mary, for you have been favoured by God; L1:31 Look! you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you are to call his name Jesus. L1:32 This one will become great and will be called Son of the Most High; and the God Yhwh will give to him the throne of David his father, L1:33 and he will rule as king over the house of Jacob into future ages, and his Kingdom shall have no end."
L1:34 But Mary said to the angel: "How can this be, since I am not having intercourse with a man?" L1:35 In answer the angel said to her: "Holy spirit will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you. For this reason what is born will be called exclusively, God's Son. L1:36 And look Elizabeth, your relative has also conceived a son, in her old age, a so-called barren woman; L1:37 because with God no declaration is impossible." L1:38 Then Mary said: "Look! the slave girl of Yhwh's! Let it happen to me according to your declaration." And the angel left her.
L1:39 So in those days Mary got up and quickly went into the mountainous region, to a city of Judah, L1:40 and entered into the home of Zechariah greeting Elizabeth. L1:41 Well, as Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the infant in her womb leaped; and Elizabeth was filled with special power, L1:42 and she cried out loud saying: "Blessed are you of all women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! L1:43 So how is it that this (privilege) is mine, to have the mother of my Lord come to see me? L1:44 For, look as I heard the sound of your greeting in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped with great pleasure. L1:45 Happy is she that believed, because those things spoken to her from Yhwh will be completely performed.
L1:46 And Mary said: "Yhwh opens up my life, L1:47 and my spirit cannot keep from being overjoyed at God my Saviour; L1:48 because he has looked upon the low position of his slave girl. For see, from now on all generations will pronounce me happy; L1:49 because the all powerful One has done great things for me, and his name is set above all others; L1:50 For generation after generation his mercy is on those who fear him. L1:51 With his arm he has performed mighty deeds, he has scattered those who are haughty in the pride of their hearts. L1:52 He has brought down powerful men from thrones and exalted humble ones; L1:53 he has filled the hungry ones with good things and rich ones he has sent away empty (handed). L1:54 He has come to the aid of Israel his servant, remembering to have mercy, L1:55 just as he spoke to our forefathers, to Abraham and to his seed during that age." L1:56 Then Mary stayed with her for about three months, and then returned to her own home (late March 2 BC).
L1:57 The time set now came for Elizabeth to give birth, she became a mother to a son. L1:58 Her neighbours and relatives heard that Yhwh had shown toward her a special consideration, and they rejoiced with her. L1:59 When the eighth day arrived they came to circumcise the young child, and they were going to call it by the name of its father Zechariah. L1:60 But its mother answered saying: "No! he is to be called John." L1:61 At this they said to her: "There is no one among your relatives that is called by this name." L1:62 Then they motioned to its father what he wished it to be called. L1:63 Asking for a writing tablet he wrote: " John is to be his name." this surprised them all. L1:64 Immediately his mouth opened and his tongue was loosened and he began to speak, praising God. L1:65 And fearful respect fell upon all those living in their neighbourhood. All these things began to be talked about in all the mountainous country of Judea, L1:66 and all that heard these things wondered about them in their hearts, saying: "What will this young child really become?" For the hand of Yhwh is indeed with him.
L1:67 Then his father Zechariah was filled with special power, and he prophesied, saying: L1:68 "Praised be Yhwh the God of Israel, because he has turned his attention and arranged deliverance for his people. L1:69 He has raised up a saving signal for us from the house of David his servant, L1:70 just as he did through the mouth of his Godly devoted prophets of old, he has spoken L1:71 of a saving from our enemies and from the hand of those hating us; L1:72 Thus he has shown the consideration promised to our forefathers and has remembered his exclusive covenant, L1:73 the pledge that he swore to Abraham our forefather, L1:74 that after being delivered from the hands of our enemies we fearlessly render sacred service to him L1:75 with loyalty and godly wisdom being overseen by him all our days. L1:76 But as for you child, you will be called prophet of the Most High, overseen by Yhwh you will go in advance preparing his course. L1:77 Giving knowledge to his people about salvation through release of their sins. L1:78 Because from the depth of tender compassion's of our God he will oversee us and daylight will break from heaven, L1:79 to give light to those sitting in the darkness of death's shadow, to direct our feet straight in the way of peace." L1:80 The child went on growing, getting stronger in power, and he was in the deserts until the day he showed up to Israel.
M1:18 The birth of Jesus Christ occurred in this way. During the time his mother Mary was engaged to be marriage to Joseph, she was found to be pregnant by God's power before they were married. M1:19 However, Joseph her husband, because he was decent and honourable did not want to expose her to public disgrace, planed to release her secretly. M1:20 But after he had thought these things over, look! Yhwh's angel appeared to him in a dream, saying: "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife home, for her conception is by God's special power. M1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you must name him Jesus (Yhwh,s Slave), for he will save his people from their sins." M1:22 All this actually happened to fulfil what had been spoken by Yhwh through his prophet, saying: M1:23 "Look! The virgin will become pregnant and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Emmanuel," which means, when translated, "God is with us." M1:24 When Joseph woke up from his sleep he did as the angel of Yhwh had directed him, and he took her as his wife. M1:25 But he had no intercourse with her until after she gave birth to a son; and he called his name Jesus.
L2:1 Now in those days a decree was given by Caesar Augustus for all the inhabitants of the earth to be registered; L2:2 (this first registration took place when Quirinus was governor of Syria;) L2:3 So all people travelled each one to his own city to be registered. L2:4 Joseph also left Galilee, from the city of Nazareth for the city of David called Bethlehem in Judea, because he was a member of the house and family of David, L2:5 in order to get registered with Mary, who had been married to him while pregnant. L2:6 While they were there, the time arrived for her to give birth.
J1:14 So the 'Word' became flesh and lived among us, and we had a view of his revealed manifestation (glory), as manifest by an only-begotten son of his father and he was full of God's favours (grace) and truth. J1:4 Life was in him and his life was the light for men J1:5 And this light is shining into the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
L2:7 And so Mary gave birth to her first-born son, and she wrapped him with bands of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no vacancy for them in the lodging rooms.
L2:8 Also in the area there were shepherds living in the fields keeping guard during the night over their flocks. L2:9 And an angel of Yhwh's came over them, and the splendour (glory) emanating from Yhwh illuminated all around them, and they became extremely afraid. L2:10 The angel said to them: "Do not be afraid, because look! I am declaring to you good news of great happiness for all the people, L2:11 because today there was born for you a saviour, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David. L2:12 And this is a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in cloth bands lying in a manger." L2:13 Suddenly there came to be with this angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God saying: L2:14 "Praises and honours (glory) in the highest places to God, and upon earth reconciliation among men of goodwill."
L2:15 When the angels had departed from them into heaven the shepherds said to each other: " By all means lets go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that they say has taken place, which Yhwh has made known to us." L2:16 And so they quickly arrived and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. L2:17 When they saw this, they explained the things they had been told concerning this young child. L2:18 And all those that heard wondered about the things the shepherds told them, L2:19 and Mary began to commit to memory all these sayings, but in her heart she draw her own conclusions. L2:20 And the shepherds returned, praising and glorifying God for all the things they had heard and seen, just as they had been told.
M1:1 A record of the ancestry of Jesus
Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
M1:2 Abraham fathered Isaac; Isaac fathered Jacob; Jacob fathered Judah
and his brothers;
M1:3 Judah fathered Perez and Zerah by Tamar; Perez fathered Hezron; Hezron
fathered Ram;
M1:4 Ram fathered Amminadab; Amminadab fathered Nahshon; Nahshon fathered
Salmon;
M1:5 Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab; Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth; Obed fathered
Jesse:
M1:6 Jesse fathered David the king. David fathered Solomon by the wife
of Uriah;
M1:7 Solomon fatherd Rehoboam; Rehoboam fathered Abijah; Abijah fathered
Asa;
M1:8 Asa fathered Jehoshaphat; Jehoshaphat fathered Jehoram; Jehoram fathered
Uzziah;
M1:9 Uzziah fathered Jotham; Jotham fathered Ahaz; Ahaz fathered Hezekiah;
M1:10 Hezekiah fathered Manasseh; Manasseh fathered Amon; Amon fathered
Josiah;
M1:11 Josiah fathered Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the Babylonian
deportation.
M1:12 After the Babylonian deportation Jeconiah fathered Shealtiel; Shealtiel
fathered Zerubbabel;
M1:13 Zerubbabel fathered Abiud; Abiud fathered Eliakim; Eliakim fathered
Azor;
M1:14 Azor fathered Zadok; Zadok fathered Achim; Achim fathered Eliud;
M1:15 Eliud fathered Eleazar; Eleazar fathered Matthan; Matthan fathered
Jacob;
M1:16 Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary, from whom Jesus was born,
who is called Christ.
M1:17 So the generations from Abraham until David were fourteen generations,
and from David until the Babylonian deportation were fourteen generations,
and from the Babylonian deportation until the Christ were fourteen generations.
L2:21 Now when eight days came to the full for circumcising him, he was also named Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Jesus presented at temple, Simeon sees the Christ
L2:22 Also, when the time for purifying them according to the law of Moses came round (40 days after birth Lev 12:1-8), they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to Yhwh, L2:23 just as it is written in Yhwh's law: " Every male opening a womb must be dedicated to Yhwh," L2:24 and to offer sacrifice according to what the law of Yhwh says: " A pair of turtledoves or two pigeons."
L2:25 And, look there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon, and this man was righteous and reverent, waiting for Israel's consolation, and holy spirit was upon him, L2:26 Furthermore, it had been divinely revealed to him by holy spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the anointed (Christ) of Yhwh. L2:27 Under the power of the spirit he came into the temple; and as the parents brought the young child Jesus in to carry out the customary practice according to the law, L2:28 This man received it into his arms and blessed God and said: L2:29 "Now, Sovereign Lord, you are letting your slave go free in peace according to your declaration; L2:30 because my eyes have seen your means of saving L2:31 that you have prepared in sight of all the people, L2:32 a light for removing the veil from the nations and praise for your people Israel."
L2:33 And its father and mother continued wondering at the things being spoken about it. L2:34 Also Simeon blessed them, but said to Mary its mother: "Look! This one is prepared for a fall and the rising again of many in Israel and for a sign to be talked against L2:35 (yes, a long sword will be run through this soul from you) in order that the reasoning of many hearts may be uncovered."
L2:36 Now there was a prophetess Anna, Phanuel's daughter, of Asher's tribe (this woman was well along in years, and had lived with a husband for seven years from her virginity, L2:37 and she was a widow eighty-four years old, who was never missing from the temple, rendering sacred service night and day with fasting and supplications. L2:38 And in that very hour she came near and began returning thanks to God and speaking about (the child) to all those waiting for Jerusalem's deliverance.
Astrologers track down Jesus.
M2:1 After Jesus had been born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of
Herod the king, look! astrologers from eastern parts came to Jerusalem, M2:2
saying: "Where is the one born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when
(we were) in the east, and we have come to do him homage." M2:3 At hearing
this king Herod was agitated, and all Jerusalem along with him; M2:4 and on
gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people he began
to inquire of them where the Christ was to be born. M2:5 They said to him:
"In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is how it has been written through the prophet,
M2:6 'And you, O Bethlehem of the land of Judah, are by no means the most
insignificant (city) among the princes of Judah; for out of you will come
forth a prince, who will shepherd my people, Israel.'"
M2:7 Then Herod secretly summoned the astrologers and carefully ascertained from them the time of the stars appearing; M2:8 and when sending them back to Bethlehem, he said: "Go make a careful search for the baby, and when you have found it report back to me, that I too may go and do it homage. M2:9 When they had heard this from the king, they went there way; and look! the star they had seen when (they were) in the east went ahead of them, until it stopped above where the baby was. M2:10 On seeing the star they became very happy. M2:11 And when they went into the house they saw the baby with its mother Mary, falling down they did homage to it. They also opened there treasures and presented it with gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. M2:12 However, because they were given warning in a dream not to return to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.
M2:13 After they had left, look! Yhwh's angel appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying: "Get up, take the baby and its mother and flee into Egypt, stay there until I give you word; for Herod is about to search for the baby to destroy it." M2:14 So he got up and took the baby and its mother by night and withdrew into Egypt, M2:15 and he stayed there until Herod died, for that to be fulfilled which was spoken by Yhwh through hid prophet, saying: "Out of Egypt I called my son."
M2:16 Herod, seeing he had been outwitted by the astrologers, went into a great rage, and he sent out and had all the boys in Bethlehem and in all its districts done away with, from two years of age and under, according to the time that he had carefully ascertained from the astrologers. M2:17 Then that was fulfilled which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying: M2:18 "A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and much wailing; it was Rachel weeping for her children, and she was unwilling to take comfort, because they are no more."
M2:19 When Herod had died, (c 18th January 1 BC) look! Yhwh's angel appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt M2:20 and said: "Get up, take the baby and its mother and make your way into the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the soul of the child are dead." M2:21 So he got up and took the baby and its mother and entered into the land of Israel. M2:22 But hearing that Archelaus ruled as king of Judea instead of his brother Herod, he became afraid to leave. How ever because of being given a divine warning in a dream, he returned to the territory of Galilee, M2:23 and came and lived in a city called Nazareth, that there might be fulfilled what was spoken through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene." L2:40 And the young child continued growing and getting strong, being filled with wisdom, and God's favour continued upon him.
At 12 years old, Jesus debates at temple
L2:41 Now it was the custom of Jesus parents to go every year to Jerusalem for the festival of the Passover. L2:42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to the custom, to the festival L2:43 and completed the days. But when they were returning, Jesus the boy remained behind in Jerusalem, and his parents did not notice. L2:44 Assuming he was in the company travelling together, they had covered a days distance when they began to hunt for him among the relatives and acquaintances. L2:45 Not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem, carefully searching for him. L2:46 Well, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers listening to them and questioning them. L2:47 But all those listening to Jesus were continually amazed at his understanding and his answers. L2:48 Now when they saw him they were astounded, and his mother said to him: "Child, why did you do this to us? Here your father and I are in distress with worry looking for you." L2:49 But he said to them: "Why did you have to go looking for me? Didn't you know that I would be in the (house) of my father?" L2:50 However, they did not understand these words that he spoke to them.
L2:51 So he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and he continued subject to them. Also, his mother carefully kept all these sayings in her heart. L2:52 And Jesus went on progressing in wisdom and in physical growth, in favour with God and men.

John Baptist, now 30 years old, starts repentance baptising and proclaiming
the Christ.
J1:9 The true light which enlightens every man was about to come into the world. J1:10 Through him the world came into existence, and he was in the world, although the world did not recognise him. J1:11 He came into his own things, but his own people did not join to him. J1:12 However, as many as did accept him, to them he gave authority to become children of God, because they believed in his name (Christ) J1:13 and they were born, not from blood nor from the will of the flesh nor from a man's will but from God's will.
J1:15 John witnessed about him, when he cried out saying - "this was the one who coming behind me has advanced in front of me, because he existed before me. J1:16 For we all received from out of his abundance, and because of this instead of privileged favours J1:17 through the law administered by Moses, benefits and the truth came to be through Jesus Christ. J1:18 At no time has anyone seen God; the only-begotten one like God one who is in a close relationship with the Father is the one that has explained him.
m1:1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus Christ L3:1 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was district ruler of Galilee, but Philip his brother was district ruler of the country of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was district ruler of Abilene, L3:2 in the days of chief priest Annas and of Caiaphas, Gods declaration came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness. J1:6 There came a man that was sent forth by God: his name was John. J1:7 This [man] came to give witness by testifying about the light, so that through him everyone might believe. J1:8 He was not that light, but he was meant to testify about that light.
m1:2 Just as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: "(Look! I am sending forth my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way:) L3:3 So he came into the country all around the Jordan, M3:1 in the wilderness of Judea' L3:3c preaching baptism (in symbol) of repentance for forgiveness of sins, M3:2 'saying: "REPENT, for the Kingdom of the heavens has drawn near." M3:3 This is in fact the one spoken of through the prophet Isaiah L3:4 just as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah: "Listen! Someone is crying out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of Yhwh, you people! Make his roads straight. L3:5 Every gully must be filled up, every mountain and hill levelled down, the curves must become straight ways and the rough places smooth ways; L3:6 and all flesh will see the saving means of God," (Isa 40:3:5).
M3:4 But this 'John' had his clothing of camel's hair and a leather girdle around his loins; his food was insect locusts and wild honey. m1:5 Consequently from all the territory of Judea the inhabitants of Jerusalem all made their way out to him M3:5 and all from the country around the Jordan made their way out to him, M3:6 and the people were baptised by him in the Jordan River, openly confessing their sins.
L3:7 The crowds coming to be baptised by him L3:10 would ask him: "What then, shall we do?" L3:11 In reply he would say to them: "Let the man that has two undergarments share with the man that has none, and let him that has something to eat do the same." L3:12 Even tax collectors came to be baptised, and they said to him; "Teacher what shall we do?" L3:13 He said to them "Do not demand anything more than the tax rate." L3:14 Also those in military service would ask him: "What also shall we do?" And he said to them: "Do not harass or accuse anybody falsely, but be satisfied with your provisions."
M3:7 When John caught sight of many Pharisees and Sadduces coming to the baptism, he said to them: "You offspring of vipers, who has warned you how to flee from the coming anger? L3:8 Produce fruits that befit repentance and do not start saying to yourselves, 'As a father we have Abraham.' For I tell you God has power to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. L3:9 Indeed, the axe is already in position at the root of the trees; every tree, therefore not producing fine fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire." L3:18 He also gave many other exhortations and continued declaring to the people this good news.
L3:15 Now as the people were in expectation all were reasoning in their hearts about John: "May he perhaps be the Christ?" J1:19 This is how John testified when the Jews sent out priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him "Who are you?". J1:20 He did not ignore them but acknowledged: "I am not the Christ." J1:21 So they questioned him: "What, then? Are you Elijah?" And he said: "I am not." "Are you then The Prophet?" And he answered "No!" J1:22 Therefore they said to him: "who are you? so that we may supply an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" J1:23 He said "I am the voice of someone crying out in the desert, 'Make the way of Yhwh straight,' just as Isaiah the prophet said." J1:24 Now those messengers were from the Pharisees. J1:25 So they questioned him saying to him: "Why, then do you baptise if you are not the Christ nor Elijah nor The Prophet?" L3:16 John said in answer to them: "I baptise you with water; M3:11 because of your repentance. J1:26 In your midst is standing one whom you do not know J1:27 the one coming M3:11 after me L3:16c one stronger than me, the lace of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. M3:11c and take off m1:8 I baptise you with water. L3:16c He will baptise you people with holy spirit and fire. L3:17 His sifting shovel is in his hand to completely clean up his threshing floor and to gather his wheat into his storehouse, but the chaff he will burn up with fire that cannot be put out." J1:28 These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptising.
October 29 CE, Jesus at river Jordan
in the wilderness of Judea.
Jesus now 30 years old comes to John to be baptised
m1:9 In the course of these days M3:13 Jesus came from m1:9 Nazareth of m1:9c Galilee to the Jordan to John, in order to be baptised by him. M3:14 John tried to prevent him, saying: "I am the one needing to be baptised by you, and your coming to me?" M3:15 In reply Jesus said to him: "Let it be, this time, for in this way it is suitable for us to carry out all that is right for us." Then he quit preventing him.
L3:21 So after all the people were baptised, Jesus also was baptised and, M3:16 After being baptised Jesus m1:10 directly after coming up out of the water L3:21c was praying and the heaven was parted open M3:16 and John saw descending L3:22 the holy spirit in the bodily shape like a dove came down upon him, and a voice came out of heaven said: "You are my Son, the beloved; I have approved you."
L3:23 Furthermore, Jesus himself, when he commenced (his work), was about thirty years old, being the son, as the opinion was, of Joseph, (son) of Heli. L3:24 (son) of Matthat, (son) of Levi, (son) of Melchi, (son) of Jannai, (son) of Joseph L3:25 (son) of Mattathias, (son) of Amos, (son) of Naham, (son) of Esli, (son) of Naggai, L3:26 (son) of Maath, (son) of Mattathias, (son) of Semein, (son) of Josech, (son) of Joda, L3:27 (son) of Joanan, (son) of Rhesa, (son) of Zerubbabel, (son) of Shealtiel, (son) of Neri, L3:28 (son) of Melchi, (son) of Addi, (son) of Cosam, (son) of Elmadam, (son) of Er, L3:29 (son) of Jesus, (son) of Eliezer, (son) of Jorim, (son) of Matthat, (son) of Levi, L3:30 (son) of Symeon, (son) of Judas, (son) of Joseph, (son) of Jonam, (son) of Eliakim, L3:31 (son) of Melea, (son) of Menna, (son) of Mattatha, (son) of Nathan, (son) of David, L3:32 (son) of Jesse, (son) of Obed, (son) of Boaz, (son) of Salmon, (son) of Nahshon, L3:33 (son) of Amminadab, (son) of Arni, (son) of Hezron, (son) of Perez, (son) of Judah, L3:34 (son) of Jacob, (son) of Isaac, (son) of Abraham, (son) of Terah, (son) of Nahor, L3:35 (son) of Serug, (son) of Reu, (son) of Peleg, (son) of Eber, (son) of Shelah, L3:36 (son) of Cainan, (son) of Arpachshad, (son) of Shem, (son) of Noah, (son) of Lamech, L3:37 (son) of Methuselah, (son) of Enoch, (son) of Jared, (son) of Mahalaleel, (son) of Cainan, L3:38 (son) of Enosh, (son) of Seth, (son) of Adam, (son) of God.
Judean wilderness, Jesus tested by Satan.
L4:1 Jesus now full of holy spirit, turned away from the Jordan, m1:12 and immediately the spirit impelled him to go into the desert L4:1c and he was lead about by the spirit in the desert m1:13 among the wild beasts. L4:2 Furthermore, he ate nothing in those days, M4:2 fasting for forty days and forty nights. L4:2c When they were over, he felt hungry. M4:3 So an Enticer approached him and L4:3 the Devil said to him: "If you are a Son of God tell this stone to become a loaf of bread." L4:4 But Jesus replied to him: "It is written, 'Man must not live by bread alone, M4:4 but on every utterance coming forth through Yhwh's mouth."
L4:9 Now M4:5 the Devil took him along into the Holy City. L4:9 Leading him into Jerusalem he stationed himself upon the battlement of the temple and said to him: "If you are a son of God, throw yourself down from here; L4:10, for it is written, concerning you, 'He will charge his angels, to guard over you,' L4:11 and, "They will lift you by their hands, that you at no time should strike your foot against a stone.'" L4:12 In answer Jesus said to him: M4:7: "Again it is written 'You must not put Yhwh your God to the test.'"
M4:8 Another time the Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain, L4:5 and brought him up to show him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time; L4:6 and the Devil said to him: "I will give you all this authority and the praises of them, because it has been given to me, and to whomever I wish I can give it. L4:7 If you, therefore, M4:10 fall down and L4:7c do an act of worship before me, and it will all be yours." L4:8 In reply Jesus said to him: M4:10 "Go away, Satan! for it is written, 'It is Yhwh your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.'" L4:13 So the Devil, having concluded all these tests of enticement, left him until another opportune time, M4:11 and look! then angels came and began to minister to him.
John identifies the Christ to his disciples.
L4:14 Jesus returned under the power of the spirit. J1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and he said: "See, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world! J1:30 It is about this one that I said, behind me there comes a man who has advanced in front of me, because he existed before me; J1:31 but I did not know him. The reason why I came baptising in water was that he might be revealed to Israel." J1:32 Also John said: "I saw the spirit coming down like a dove out of heaven, and it remained upon him, J1:33 and I did not know it was going to be him, but the same one who sent me to baptise in water said to me, 'Whoever it is you see the spirit coming down upon and remaining, this is the one that will baptise in holy spirit.' J1:34 And I have seen [it], and I have witnessed that this one is the Son of God."
J1:35 The next day John was standing with two of his disciples, J1:36 and as he looked at Jesus walking about he said: "See, the Lamb of God!" J1:37 And two disciples heard him say this and so they followed Jesus. J1:38 Jesus turning around and seeing them following him, said to them: "What are you looking for?" They said to him: "Rabbi, (which means when translated, Teacher) where are you staying?" J1:39 He said to them: "Come, and you will see." Therefore they went and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day; it was about the tenth hour (c 4 p.m.) J1:40 Andrew the brother of Simon Peter was one of the two that heard what John had said and had followed Jesus. J1:41 But first this one found his own brother, Simon, and said to him: "We have found the Messiah" (which translated means, Christ). J1:42 So he led him towards Jesus; Jesus looking at him said: "You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Cephas (which translated is Peter).
J1:43 The next day Jesus desired to leave for Galilee, and he found Philip and Jesus said to him: "Be my follower." J1:44 Now this was the Philip from Bethsaida, the same city as Andrew and Peter. J1:45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him: "We have found the one of whom Moses wrote about in the Law and the Prophets, Jesus the son of Joseph, from Nazareth?" J1:46 But Nathanael said to him: "Can any thing good come out of Nazareth." Philip said to him; "Come and see." J1:47 When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him he said about him: "See, for a certainty an Israelite, in whom there is no deceit." J1:48 Nathanael said to him: "Where do you know me from?" Jesus answered him: "Before Philip called you, while you were under the fig tree, I saw you." J1:49 Nathanael answered him: "Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are King of Israel." J1:50 Jesus in answer said to him: "Because I told you I saw you underneath the fig tree do you believe? You will see greater things than these." J1:51 Jesus went on to say to him: In all truth I tell you "You men will see heaven opening up and the angels of God ascending and descending in the service of the Son of man."
Jesus first miracle, water to wine.
J2:1 Now on the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. J2:2 Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding, J2:1c and Jesus mother was also there. J2:3 When the wine ran short Jesus mother said to him: "They have no wine." J2:4 But Jesus said to her: "Woman of what concern is that to me or you? My hour has not yet arrived." J2:5 So his mother said to the servants: "Do whatever he tells you."
J2:6 Now there were six stone water jars put there as required by the purification rules of the Jews, each able to hold two or three liquid measures (c 22 litres) J2:7 Jesus said to them: "Fill the water jars with water." And they filled them to their top. J2:8 And he said to them: "Now pour some out and take it to the organiser of the feast." So they took it. J2:9 When, now the organiser of the feast tasted the water that had been turned into wine and not knowing where it had came from; although those servants who had drawn out the water knew, the organiser of the feast called the bridegroom J2:10 and said to him: "Everybody serves the best wine first, and when people are intoxicated the inferior. You have kept the best wine until now." J2:11 Jesus performed this in Cana of Galilee as the beginning of his signs, manifesting his extraordinary power; and so his disciples put their faith in him. J2:12 After this he and his mother and brothers and his disciples went down to Capernaum, but they did not stay there many days.
Jesus evicts racketeers from temple, predicts its destruction and rebuilding in three days, discusses 'born again' issue with Nicodemus.
J2:13 Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and so Jesus went up to Jerusalem. J2:14 And he found in the temple those selling cattle and sheep and doves and also money exchangers sitting there. J2:15 After making a whip of ropes, he drove all those with the sheep and cattle out of the temple, and he up set the coins of the money changers overturning their tables. J2:16 To the ones selling doves he said: "Take these things away from here! Stop making my Father's house a market house!" J2:17 His disciples recalled that it is written: "The zeal for your house will eat me up."
J2:20 Therefore the Jews responding to him said: "What sign can you to show us, since you are doing these things?" J2:19 Jesus answered them: "Demolish this temple, and in three days I will reconstruct it." J2:20 The Jews therefore said: "This temple was built in forty-six years, and you will reconstruct it in three days?" J2:21 But he was talking about the temple of his body. J2:22 When, though, he was raised up from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the Scriptures and the words said by Jesus.
J2:23 Because he was in Jerusalem during the Passover festival, many people were observing the signs he was performing and believed in his position, J2:24 But Jesus did not trust himself to them because he understood them fully J2:25 and did not need to have anyone testify about anybody else, because he already knew what was a mans attitude.
J3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, Nicodemus was his name, a ruler of the Jews. J3:2 This one came to him in the night and said to him: "Rabbi, we know that as a teacher you have come from God; for no one is able to perform these signs that you perform unless God is with him." J3:3 In answer Jesus said to him: "That's true and I tell you truthfully, unless anyone is reborn from above he cannot see God's Kingdom" J3:4 Nicodemus said to him: "How can a man be reborn when he is old? He cannot enter into the womb of his mother a second time and be born can he?" J3:5 Jesus answered "True; but truthfully I tell you, unless anyone is reborn out of water and spirit, he cannot enter into God's Kingdom. J3:6 What has been born out of flesh is flesh, and what has been born out of the spirit is spirit. J3:7 Do not wonder because I say to you, You need to be born again from above. J3:8 The wind blows where it wills, and you hear its sound but you do not know where it comes from or to where it's going. So is everyone that has been born out of the spirit."
J3:9 Nicodemus answered: "How is it possible for these things to occur?" J3:10 Jesus answered saying him: "You are a teacher of Israel and yet you do not know these things!" J3:11 This being the case, in all truth I tell you, that which we have come to perceive we are jointly declaring and that which we have seen we are jointly bearing witness about, but our joint witness you are not receiving. J3:12 If the earthly things I tell you, you do not believe, however can you believe the heavenly things I tell you. J3:13 No one can go up into heaven unless the one out of heaven comes down first as the Son of a Man. J3:14 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent (on a pole) in the desert, so it is necessary that the Son of a man must be lifted up (on a pole), J3:15 so that everyone believing in him may have everlasting life.
J3:16 This is how God showed love for the world, he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone believing in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. J3:17 For God did not sent out his Son into the world, for him to judge the world, but in order that the world should be saved through him. J3:18 The one believing in him is not being judged. The one not believing has been judged because of his not believing in the position of the only-begotten Son of God. J3:19 The basis for Judgement is this, the light has come into the world but men loved the darkness for their corrupt acts rather than the light. J3:20 Everyone practising bad things hates the light and does not come near it so that their actions may not be exposed. J3:21 But the one acting truthfully comes toward the light, so that his actions may be shown as having been worked in harmony with God.
Jesus disciples start baptising, John's disciples decrease while Jesus' increase, friend and bridegroom identified.
J3:22 Following these things Jesus and his disciples came into Judean territory, and there he spent some time with them and was baptising. J3:23 John was also baptising in Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water there, and people kept coming along beside the water and were being baptised; J3:24 for John had not yet been thrown into prison.
J3:25 It occurred that a Jew was questioning the disciples of John about purification. J3:26 So they came to John and said to him: "Rabbi, who was it that was with you on the other side of the Jordan about whom you stated 'See this one is baptising and they are all going to him'." J3:27 In answer John said: "A man can only receive what has been given to him from heaven, J3:28 you very ones are witnesses that I said 'I am not the Christ, but I have been sent out in advance of that one. J3:29 The one that has the bride is the bridegroom but the friend of the bridegroom, on standing and hearing him has a great deal of happiness because of the voice of the bridegroom. This is my happiness. J3:30 That one must go on increasing but I will be decreasing."
J3:31 The one that comes from above is above all others. The one coming from the earth is out of the earth and speaks things of the earth. He that comes out of heaven is coming above all others. J3:32 That one which he (the friend of the bridegroom) has seen and heard he is testifying to but no one is accepting it. J3:33 The one that has received this testimony has established that God is true. J3:34 This one God sent forth speaking the sayings of God, for he does not measure out the spirit sparingly when he is giving it out. J3:35 The Father loves the Son and all things he has given into his hand. J3:36 The one believing in the Son will have everlasting life; but the one that ignores the Son will not see life but the fierce anger of God remains on him.
J4:1 When the Master became aware that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptising more disciples than John J4:2 although indeed, Jesus did not himself baptise but his disciples did, J4:3 he left Judea and departed for Galilee again.
Jesus offers living water to Samaritan women,
Places to worship in to end in favour
of spirit and truth worshipping.
Harvest is ready.
J4:4 It was necessary for him to travel through Samaria. J4:5 Accordingly he came to a city of Samaria called Sychar near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. J4:6 Jacob's well was there. Now Jesus, tired out from the journey, was sitting at the fountain it was about the sixth hour (12 noon).
J4:7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her: "Give me a drink," J4:8 for his disciples had gone off into the city to buy provisions. J4:9 Therefore the Samaritan woman said to him: "How is it that you a Jew, ask me a Samaritan woman for a drink?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. J4:10 In answer Jesus said to her: "If you knew about the free gift of God and who it is that says to you 'Give me a drink, you probably would have asked him in return for living water, and he would probably have given it to you." J4:11 She said to him: "Sir you have no means of drawing water, and the well is deep. So from where do you get this living water? J4:12 You are not greater than our forefather Jacob, who gave us the well and who drank from it along with his sons and his flocks, are you?" J4:13 In answer Jesus said to her: "Everyone drinking from this water will get thirsty again. J4:14 Whoever drinks from the water that I give to him will never ever get thirsty, but the water that I give to him will become a fountain of water in him welling up into everlasting life."
J4:15 The woman said to him: "Sir, give me this water, so that I may never get thirsty and not have to keep coming to this place to draw water." J4:16 He said to her: "Go, call your husband to come here." J4:17 In answer the woman said: "I do not have a husband." Jesus said to her: "You said well, 'A husband I do not have.' J4:18 For you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. This you have said truthfully." J4:19 The woman said to him: "Sir, I perceive you are a prophet. J4:20 Our forefathers worshiped in this mountain; but you say that Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship." J4:21 Jesus said to her: "Believe me, woman, the time is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will people worship the Father. J4:22 You do not know why you are worshipping; we know why we worship because salvation is coming out of the Jews. J4:23 Nevertheless, time is advancing, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for indeed, the Father is seeking suchlike ones to worship him. J4:24 God is a spirit, and those worshipping him must worship him with spirit and truth." J4:25 The woman said to him: "I know that the Messiah is coming who is called Christ. Whenever that one arrives, he will announce everything to us." J4:26 Jesus said to her: "I am that one who is now speaking to you."
J4:27 Just at that time his disciples arrived, and they began to wonder because he was speaking to the woman. Of course, no one said: "What are you looking for?" or, "Why are you talking to her?" J4:28 The woman, left her water jar and went away into the city and told the men: J4:29 "Come and see a man that told me all the things I had done. Is this not perhaps the Christ?" J4:30 So they came out of the city and went to him.
J4:31 Meanwhile the disciples were requesting him, saying: "Rabbi, eat." J4:32 But he said to them: "I have food to eat of which you do not know." J4:33 The disciples began saying to one another: "No one has brought him anything to eat, has he?" J4:34 Jesus said to them: "My food is for me to carry out the purpose of the one that sent me and to finish his work. J4:35 Are you not saying that there are four months yet before the harvest arrives? Look! I say to you: Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, they are white for harvesting. Already J4:36 the one harvesting is receiving his reward by gathering fruits to receive everlasting life, so that together the sower and the harvester may rejoice. J4:37 In this respect the saying is true, one is the sower and another the harvester. J4:38 I have sent you off to harvest what you have not laboured on. Others have laboured, and you have entered into the benefits of their labour.
J4:39 Now many of the Samaritans from that city put faith in him on account of the woman saying: "He told me all the things I did." J4:40 Therefore when the Samaritans came to him, they began asking him to stay with them; and he stayed there two days. J4:41 Consequently many more came to believed what he said, J4:42 and to the woman they said: "We do not believe just because of what you said; for we have heard for ourselves and we know that this man is truly the saviour of the world."
J4:43 After two days he left there (Sychar) for Galilee L 3:19 But Herod the district ruler because of being reproved by John concerning Herodias the wife of his brother and all the wicked deeds that Herod did, L3:20 added also this to those deeds: he locked John up in prison. M14:3 For Herod had arrested John bound him and put him away in prison on account of Herodias the wife of Philip his brother. M14:4 For John had been saying to him: "It is not lawful for you to be having her." M4:5 However, although he wanted to kill him, he feared the crowd, because they took him for a prophet.
M4:12 When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. And good talk concerning him spread throughout all the surrounding country.
Summer 30 CE, Galilee, starts to announce
"the Kingdom".
Rejected in Nazareth, travels through Cana to Capernaum.
Heals kings servants son.
J4:45 When, he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things he did in Jerusalem at the festival, for they also had gone to the festival. L4:15 So he began to teach in their synagogues, being held in esteem by all. M4:17 From that time Jesus commenced preaching m1:14 the good news of God m1:15 and saying: "The appointed time has been fulfilled, and the (M: heavenly) Kingdom of God has drawn near, Be repentant, you people, and have faith in the good news."
L4:16 And so Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been reared; J4:44 however Jesus had said himself that in his own home town a prophet receives no honour. L4:16c And so according to the custom on the Sabbath day, he entered into the synagogue, and stood up to read. L4:17 The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed him, and he opened the scroll and found the place where it was written; L4:18 "Yhwh's spirit is upon me, because he anointed me to declare good news to the poor, he sent me forth to preach a release to the captives and a recovery of sight to the blind, to send the crushed ones away with a release, L4:19 to preach Yhwh's acceptable year." (Is 61:1:2) L4:20 With that he rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all the synagogue were intently fixed upon him. L4:21 Then he started to say to them: " Today this scripture that you just heard is fulfilled."
L4:22 And they all began witnessing favourable about him and marvelled at the elegance of the words proceeding out of his mouth, and they were saying : "But this is a son of Joseph, is it not?" L4:23 At this he said to them: "No doubt you will apply this illustration to me, 'Physician, cure yourself; the things we heard as having happened in Capernaum do also here in your home of origin." L4:24 But he said: "Truly I tell you that no prophet is accepted in home of origin. L4:25 For instance, I tell you a truth, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven were shut up (no rain) for three years and six months, so that a great famine fell upon all the land, (1Kings 17:1). L4:26 Yet Elijah was sent to none of those (women), but only to Zarephath a widow in the land of Sidon. L4:27 Also, there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet yet none of them was cleansed, but Naaman the son of Syria." (2Kings 5:1-14) L4:28 Now all those hearing these things in the synagogue became very angry; L4:29 and rising up they hassled him out of the city, and lead him to the brow of the hill upon which their city had been built, in order to throw him headfirst over. L4:30 But he manoeuvred through them from their centre and went his own way.
M4:13 Further, after leaving Nazareth, J4:46 he came down again to Cana of Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. Now there was an official of the royal court whose son was sick in Capernaum. J4:47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and asked him to travel down and heal his son, for he was close to dying. J4:48 However, Jesus said to him: "You will never believe, unless you see signs and wonders." J4:49 The royal officer said to him: "Master, come down before my child dies." J4:50 Jesus said to him: "Go your way; your son lives." The man believed the words that Jesus said to him and left. J4:51 But while he was travelling down his servants met him to say that his boy was living. J4:52 He therefore began to inquire of them the time in which he recovered. Accordingly they said to him: "Yesterday at the seventh hour (1pm) the fever left him." J4:53 The father knew that it was at that very hour Jesus had said to him: "Your son lives." And he and his whole household became believers. J4:54 This was the second sign Jesus performed after coming into Galilee from Judea.
Miraculous fish catch, Jesus calls Simon, Andrew, James, and John.
M4:13c Now Jesus came and took up residence in Capernaum (L: a city of Galilee) beside the sea in the district of Zebulun and Naphtali, M4:14 that there might be fulfilled what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying M4:15 "O land of Zebulun and land of Naptali, along the road of the sea, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the nations! M4:16 The people sitting in darkness saw a great light, and as for those sitting in a region of deathly shadow, light rose upon them" (Isa 9:1-2).
L5:1 On an occasion then the crowd was pressing close upon him and listening to the word of God, he was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret (Galilee). L5:2 And he saw two boats docked at the lakeside, but the fishermen had got out of them and were washing off their nets. L5:3 Going aboard one of the boats, which was Simon's he asked him to pull away a bit from the land. Then he sat down, and from the boat he began teaching the crowds.
L5:4 When he finished speaking, he said to Simon: " Pull out to where it is deep, and you men let down your nets for a catch." L5:5 But Simon in reply said: "Instructor, for a whole night we worked and took nothing, but at your request I will lower the nets." L5:6 When they did this, they caught a great multitude of fish. In fact, their nets began ripping apart. L5:7 So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and assist them; which they did, and they filled both boats, so that these began to sink. L5:8 Seeing this, Simon Peter fell down at the knees of Jesus saying: "Have nothing to do with me, because I am a sinful man, Lord." L5:9 For because of the catch of fish which they took up he was overwhelmed with astonishment and also those with him, L5:10 likewise both James and John, Zebedees sons, who were friends of Simon. But Jesus said to Simon: "Stop being afraid; from now on you will be catching live men." L5:11 So they brought the boats back to land, and abandoned everything and followed him.
M4:18 Walking along the sea of Galilee (possible the next day) he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, m1:16 [They were] casting their net about in the sea M4:18c on letting down a fishing net into the sea, for they were fishers. M4:19 Jesus said to them: "Follow me, and m1:17 I shall make you into M4:19c fishers of men," M4:20 They at once abandoned the nets, and followed him. M4:21 Going on m1:19 a little farther M4:21c from there he saw two others who were brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. m1:20 Without waiting he called them. In turn they M4:22 at once m1:20c left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and went off after him.
Jesus expels demon, and cures Peter's
mother-in-law.
m1:21 And they went their way into Capernaum. And as soon as it was
the Sabbath he entered into the synagogue and began to teach, L4:32 and they
were astounded at his way of teaching, m1:22 for he was teaching them as
one having authority, L4:32c in his speech and not as the scribes m1:23 Also,
at that moment there was in their synagogue a man under the power of an
unclean spirit L4:33 demon, m1:23c and he shouted with a loud voice; L4:34
"Ah! What have we to do with you, Jesus you Nazarene? Did you come to destroy
us? I know exactly who you are, the appointed one of God." L4:35 But Jesus
rebuked it saying: "Be silent, and come out of him." m1:26 And the unclean
spirit after throwing him into a convulsion L4:35 in their midst m1:26c
and yelling at the top of its voice L4:35c the demon came out of him without
hurting him. L4:36 At this, m1:27 the people were all so astonished that
they began discussing among themselves saying: "What is this, a new teaching?"
L4:36c "What sort of speech is this, because with authority and power he
orders the unclean spirits, and m1:27 they obey him L4:36c and come out?"
L4:37 So this news about him kept going out m:1:28 and these reports about
him spread in all directions L4:37 of the surrounding country, m1:28 in Galilee.
m1:29 And immediately L4:38 he got up and left the synagogue and entered into Simon's home m1:29 with Andrew, James and John. M8:14 On coming into Peters house, Jesus saw L4:38c Simon's mother-in-law was m1:30 sick and lying down L4:38c with a high fever, m1:30 and so they immediately told him about her L4:38c and asked him to help her. m1:31 So going to her L4:39 he stood over her and brought down her fever. m:31 Taking her by the hand he raised her and the fever left her L4:39c instantly; having got up she began ministering to them.
m1:32 After evening had fallen, and the sun had set people began bringing him all those who were ill L4:40 with various diseases m1:32c and those demon-possessed were L4:40 brought to him. m1:33 and the whole city was collected together at the door. L4:40c By laying his hands upon each one of them he would cure m1:34 many that were ill with various sicknesses, and he expelled many demons. L4:41 These demons would come out of many, crying out : "You are the Son of God." By restraining them, he did not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ. M8:16 So he expelled the spirits with a word, and he cured all who were in a bad way; M8:17 that there might be fulfilled what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He took on our sicknesses and carried our diseases" (Isa 53:40).
m1:35 Early in the morning while it was still dark, Jesus got up and went out leaving for a secluded place, and began praying there. m1:36 However, Simon and those with him pursued him m1:37 and finding him, said to him; "Everybody is looking for you," L4:42 So the crowds who were looking for him eventually found him, and they tried to detain him from leaving them.
m1:38 So Jesus said to them: "Let us go elsewhere, into the village towns nearby, L4:43 so that I may declare the good news of the Kingdom of God also to these other cities, because it was m1:38c for this purpose I was sent." M4:23 Then he went around throughout the whole of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news of the Kingdom, curing every sort of disease, and infirmity m1:39 and also expelling demons M4:23 among the people. M4:24 And the report about him went out into Syria; and they brought him all those in a bad way, distressed with various diseases and pains, demon possessed, epileptic and paralysed persons, and he cured them. M4:25 Consequently large crowds came to followed him from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem and Judea and from the other side of the Jordan.
L5:12 On one occasion while he was in one of the cities, there was a man full of leprosy. When he caught sight of Jesus he M8:2 came toward him and L5:12c falling on his face m1:40m with bent knees L5:12c he begged him, saying: "Lord, if you just want to, you can cleanse me." m1:41 At that he was moved with pity L5:13 And so, stretching out his hand, he touched him saying: "I want to, become clean." Immediately his leprosy M8:3 was cleansed away L5:13 and vanished from him m1:42 and he became clean. L5:14 And he gave the man m1:43 strict orders m1:44 saying to him "See that you tell nobody a thing but go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering in behalf of your cleansing, the things Moses directed, (Lev14 1:32) for the purpose of a witness to them." m1:45 But after going away the man started to proclaim it a great deal and to spread his story around, so that Jesus was no longer able to enter openly into any city L5:15 As the reports about him spread all the more, so great crowds would collect together to listen and to be cured of their sicknesses. L5:16 However he continually retreated to the secluded deserts places to pray. m1:45 Yet they kept coming to him from all directions.
Entering into Capernaum word went out that he was in his
own house.
L5:17 During one of the days he was teaching, m2:2 so many had gathered
that there was no more room, not even near the door L5:17c and Pharisees and
teachers of the law who had come out of every village of Galilee, Judea and
Jerusalem were sitting there; m2:2 so he began to deliver a talk to them L5:17c
and Yhwh's power was in him to do healing.
m2:3 Some men came bringing him a paralytic M9:2 lying on a bed m2:3c carried by four of them. L5:18 They were looking for a way to bring him in and place him before Jesus. L5:19 Not being able to finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they climbed up onto the roof. m2:4 Removing the roof over where he was by digging an opening L5:19c through the tiling they m2:4 lowered the stretcher on which the paralytic was lying L5:19c among those in front of Jesus. L5:20 When he saw their faith he said: m2:5 to the paralytic M9:2 "Take courage, young man your sins are forgiven you." L5:21 Thereupon M9:3 certain ones of L5:21 the scribes and the Pharisees m2:6 were sitting there and L5:21c started to reason, m2:6c in their hearts M9:3 saying to themselves m2:7 "Why is this man talking in this manner? He is blaspheming L5:21c Who can forgive sins except God alone ?"|
m2:8 But Jesus, having discerned immediately M9:4 their thoughts m2:8c with the power of the spirit he had; that they were reasoning that way in themselves, said to them L5:22 "What are you considering M9:4c wicket things in your hearts?" M4:5 For example L5:23 which, is easier to say, m2:9 to the paralytic L5:23c 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Get up m2:9 and pick up your stretcher and walk'? L5:24 However in order for you to know that the son of a man has authority on the earth to forgive sins:" he said to the paralysed man: "I say to you get up, pick up your stretcher and make your way home." L5:25 Immediately he got up in front of them, picked up what he used to lie on m2:12 and walked out in front of them all L5:25c and went off to his home, praising God.
M9:8 At the sight of this the crowds were struck with awe, m2:12c so much so that they all got carried away L5:26 in a euphoria and they began praising God, being filled with deep reverence, saying: " We have seen strange things today!" m2:12 for we have never seen the like of it."
Matthew is called as 5th apostle, Jesus feasts with him.
L5:27 Now after these things m2:13 he again went out beside the sea and the crowd kept coming to him and he began to teach them. m2:14 But as he was passing along he caught sight of Livi (Matthew) the son of Alphaeus L5:27c a tax collector sitting at the tax office, and he said to him: "Be my follower." L5:28 Leaving every thing he got up and followed him.
m2:15 Later L5:29 Livi spread a big reception feast for him at his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other m2:15 sinners reclining L5:29 at the meal table m2:15 with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many of them that had began following him. L5:30 At this the Pharisees and their scribes m2:16 when they saw he was eating with the sinners and tax collectors L5:30c began murmuring to his disciples, saying: " Why is it M9:11 that your teacher eats L5:30c and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?" m2:17 Upon hearing this L5:31 Jesus said to them: "Those who are healthy and m2:17 strong L5:31c do not need a physician, but those who are ailing do. M9:13 Go, then, and learn what this means, 'I want mercy, and not sacrifice.' L5:32 I have come to call, not righteous persons, but sinners to repentance."
m2:18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees practised fasting. M9:14 So John's disciples came to him and asked: "Why is it that we L5:33 (The disciples of John) fast frequently and offer supplications, and so do those (disciples) of the Pharisees m2:18c practice fasting, L5:33c but yours eat and drink m2:18c and do not practice fasting?" m2:19 And Jesus said to them; "While the bridegroom is with his friends they cannot fast, can they? So long as they are with the bridegroom they cannot fast M9:15 they have no reason to grieve .. do they? L5:35 Yet days will come when the bridegroom will indeed be taken away from them; then they will fast (grieve) in those days,"
L5:36 He went on further to give an illustration to them: "No one cuts a patch of new m2:21 un-shrunk L5:36c outer garment m2:21 cloth L5:36c and sews in onto an old m2:21c shrunken L5:36c outer garment m2:21c cloth L5:36c if he does, then in time the material patch on the new garment tears away not binding to it m2:21 and the tear becomes worse.
L5:37 Also no one puts new wine into old wine skins; if he does, then the new wine will burst the wineskins, it will spill out and the wineskin will be ruined. m2:22 The wine is lost as well as the skins. M9:17 But people put new wine into new wineskins and both are secured. L5:39 People that have drunk from the old wine are not willing to drink the new; because they say, 'The old is nice.'"
L4:44 And so he carried on preaching in the synagogues of Judea. J5:1 After this there was a festival of the Jews, and so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Jesus cures man at Bethzatha pool on
the Sabbath,
Fathers instructs Son, Son does judging.
Resurrection to life or judgement, Two witnesses John and miraculous works.
J5:2 Now in Jerusalem near the sheepgate there is a pool called in Hebrew Bethsatha with five colonnades. J5:3 In these many sick, blind, lame and paralysed, were lying down. J5:5 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. J5:6 Jesus on seeing this man lying down, and knowing how long it had been said to him: "Would you like to be made well?" J5:7 The invalid man answered him: "Sir, I do not have any one to plunge me into the pool when the water is agitated; But while I am making my way someone else steps down before me." J5:8 Jesus said to him: "Get up, lift up your mattress and start walking." J5:9 Immediately the man became sound in health, and he picked up his mattress and began walking. Now that day was a Sabbath. J5:10 So the Jews said to the cured man: "It is the Sabbath, and it is against the law for you to carry the mattress." J5:11 But he answered them: "The one that made me sound in health said to me, 'Pick up your mattress and start walking." J5:12 So they asked him: "Who is this man that told you to, 'Pick it up and walk with it'?" J5:13 But the cured man did not know who he was, for Jesus had merged into the crowd that was present there.
J5:14 Later Jesus found him in the temple and said to him: "Look, you have been made well so do not sin any more, so that nothing worse happens to you." J5:15 The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus that had cured him. J5:16 Therefore the Jews went harassing Jesus, because he was doing these things during the Sabbath. J5:17 But he answered them: "My Father continues working, and so I continue working." J5:18 Because of this the Jews now began seeking to kill him, because he not only kept working on the Sabbath but he also called God his own Father, making himself equal to God.
J5:19 Therefore, in answer, Jesus went on to say to them: "I tell you truthfully, the Son cannot do nothing of his own originality, but whatever things he observes the Father doing these things the Son copies. J5:20 The Father loves the Son and shows him all the things he will do, and will show him even greater things, things that will amaze you. J5:21 Just as the Father raises up the dead and gives life to them, so likewise the Son also makes alive those he wishes.
J5:22 Neither is the Father judging anyone, but all the judging he has given to the Son, J5:23 in order that all may show respect for the Son just as they show respect for the Father. The one not showing respect for the Son does not respect the Father who sent him. J5:24 In all truth I tell you, the one that listens to my words and believes in the one who sent me, will have everlasting life, and will not come up to be judged, but will come out of death into life.
J5:25 "I tell all of you truthfully, The time is coming, and it is now, when dead ones will hear the voice of the Son of God and those listening will live. J5:26 For just as the Father has within himself life, so also he has given to the Son to have this life within himself J5:27 and authority to do judging he has given to him, because he became the son of a man. J5:28 Do not be amazed at this, because the time is coming in which all those in the grave will hear his voice J5:29 and come out those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practised bad things to a resurrection of judgement.
J5:30 I cannot do a single thing of my own originality, according to how I am instructed, I will judge; and that judgement that I render is just, because I pursue not my own objectives, but the objective of the one that sent me. J5:31 "If I alone testify about myself, my statement is not proved as fact. J5:32 There is another one that gives witness about me, and I know that the statements which he testifies about me are true. J5:33 You sent representatives to John, and he has testified to the truth. J5:34 However, I do not receive only testimony from a man, I am telling you these things in order that you might be rescued.
J5:35 That man (John) was a shining, burning lamp, and you were willing to enjoy his light during his hour. J5:36 But I have a witness greater than that of John, for the very tasks that my Father assigned to me to accomplish, these very tasks themselves that I perform testify about me, that the Father has sent me. J5:37 Also, the Father having sent me has himself testified about me. You have neither heard his voice nor seen his form at any time; J5:38 and his words you do not accept, because his spokesman who he sent to you, you do not believe.
J5:39 "You are searching the scriptures, because you think that by means of them you will have everlasting life; and these are the very thing that bear witness about me. J5:40 And yet you do not want to come to me so that you may have life. J5:41 I do not accept men's praises, J5:42 for I know only too well that you do not have love of God in you. J5:43 I have come in my Fathers name, but you do not receive me; if someone arrived in his own name you would accept him. J5:44 How can you believe when you are accepting praises from one another and not seeking praise from the only God?"
J5:45 Don't think I will accuse you to the Father; the one that accuses you is Moses, the one in whom you have put your hope. J5:46 In fact if you believed Moses you would believe me for that one wrote about me. J5: 47 But if you do not believe the writings of that one, how will you believe the things I say?"
L6:1 Now on a certain (M specific) Sabbath day Jesus was passing through grainfields, M12:1 and his disciples were hungry and started plucking and eating the heads of grain, L6:1c rubbing them with their hands. L6:2 At this some of the Pharisees said: "Why are you (M your disciples) doing what is illegal to do on Sabbaths?" L6:3 Jesus answered them: "Have you never read the very thing David did when m2:25 he was in need when he and the men with him got hungry? M2:26 How in the account about Abiather the chief priest L6:4c he entered into the house of God and received the loaves of presentation and ate and gave some to the men with him, which it is illegal for any to eat except for the priests?" M12:5 Or, have you not read in the Law that on Sabbaths the priests in the temple treat the Sabbath day as not sacred and continue guiltless?
M12:6 But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here, m2:27 and he went on to say to them: "For mans sake the Sabbath day came into existence, and not man for the sake of the Sabbath. m2:28 Therefore the Son of a man is Lord even of the Sabbath day. L6:5 Lord of the Sabbath is what the Son of a man is." M12:7 However if you had understood what it means, 'I prefer compassion to sacrifice' it is unlikely you would have condemned the innocent ones. M12:8 For Lord of the Sabbath is what the Son of a man is."
Jesus heals man's hand on Sabbath, Pharisees seek to kill him.
L6:6 During the course of another Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and began teaching. There was a man present whose right hand was wasted away. L6:7 The Scribes and Pharisees were now closely watching him to see whether he would cure m3:2 this man on the Sabbath day, in order that they might L6:7c find some legal way to accuse him. M12:10 So they asked him, "Is it legal to cure on the Sabbath day?" M12:11 He said to them: "Who out of you men that has a sheep, if it fell into a hole on the Sabbath day, would not get hold of it and pull it out? M12:12 How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! So is it legal to do good things on the Sabbath day,"
L6:8 Although knowing their intentions, he still said to the man with the wasted hand: m3:3 "Get up and come L6:8c and stand in the centre." So standing up he too his position. L6:9 Then Jesus said to them: "I ask you men, is it legal on the Sabbath day to do a good deed or to do a bad deed, to save a life or destroy it?" m3:4 But they kept silent L6:10 and so after looking round at them all, m3:5 and becoming thoroughly pained at their hard hearted attitude. In anger L6:10c he said to the man: "Stretch out your hand." He did so, and his hand was restored M12:13 as sound as the other hand.
L6:11 But they became furious, and began to discuss with one another what they could do to Jesus. M12:14 The Pharisees went outside and m3:6 immediately began holding council with the party followers of Herod M12:14c against him so that they might destroy him." M12:15 Jesus knowing this withdrew from there m3:7 with his disciples to the sea: and a large crowd from Galilee and Judea followed him. m3:8 Even from Jerusalem and Idumea and from across the Jordan and from around the Tyre and Sidon area, came masses of people because they had heard about the things he was doing.
m3:9 So he ordered his disciples to have a small boat continually available for him to use in order to avoid being crushed by the crowd. m3:10 He cured many, and people with afflictions would fall down before him in order to touch him, M12:15c and he cured them all. M12:16 But he told them sternly not to reveal what he had done M12:17 in order that there might be fulfilled the things spoken through Isaiah the prophet who said: M12:18 Look! My son whom I chose, the one I love, I am well pleased with him; I shall put my power upon him, and he will announce my judgements to the nations. M12:19 He will not wrangle nor shout out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the main streets. M12:20 He will not crush a bruised reed, and no smouldering wick will he extinguish, until he pushes the judegment into victory. M12:21 In his name nations will hope." m3:11 And the corrupt spirits when ever they saw him fell before him crying out "You are the Son of God." m3:12 And many times he warned them not to reveal this.
The first preaching tour of Galilee
with twelve Apostles.
Twelve Apostles are chosen.
L6:12 During those days Jesus went up into the mountain to pray and he continued in prayer to God throughout the night. L6:13 When it had become day light he called to him (all) his disciples, m3:13 and called over to him those ones he wanted and they separated to his side. m3:14 These he formed into a group of twelve whom he also called apostles (envoys). In order that they might remain with him and that he might send them our to make pronouncements m3:15 along with the authority to expel demons.
m3:16 And the group of twelve that he formed were L6:14 Simon, whom he also m3:16c named Peter, L6:14c and Andrew his brother, and James m3:17 the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, he also gave these the name Boanerges, which means sons of thunder, L6:14c and Philip and Bartholomew, L6:15 and Matthew and Thomas, and James (the son) of Alphaeus, m3:18 and Thaddaeus (also called at L6:16 Judas the son of James) and Simon the Cananaean L6:15c who is called "the zealous one," and Judas Iscariot, who turned traitor m3:19 and later betrayed him.
Jesus gives sermon on the mount.
L6:17 Having came down with them he stationed himself on a level place, and there was a great crowd of his disciples, and a great mass of people from all of Judea, Jerusalem and the maritime country of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and be healed of their sicknesses. L6:18 And those troubled with unclean spirits were cured. L6:19 And all the crowd were seeking to touch him, because power was going out of him and healing them all.
M5:1 Surveying the crowds he went up
the hill; and after sitting down his disciples came up to him. L6:20 Looking
at his disciples M5:2 he opened his mouth and began teaching them saying:
M5:3 "Fortunate now are those destitute spiritually, because for them
is the Kingdom of the heaven.
M5:4 "Fortunate now are the grieving ones, because they will be comforted.
M5:5 "Fortunate now are the gentle ones, since they will inherit the earth.
M5:6 "Fortunate now are those hungering and thirsting for true justice,
since they will be satisfied.
L6:21 "Fortunate now are you who cry, because you will laugh.
M5:7 "Fortunate now are those who show mercy, as they will be shown mercy.
M5:8 "Fortunate now are the good hearted, as they will see God.
"Fortunate now M5:9 are the peacekeepers, as they will be called 'sons
of God'.
M5:10 "Fortunate now are those persecuted because they are just, as the
Kingdom of the heavens is theirs.
L6:22 "Fortunate now are you whenever people hate, M5:11 reproach, and
harass you, L6:22c and whenever they exclude you, reproach you and M5:11c
lyingly say every sort of terrible thing against you because of me. L6:23
Be glad in that day and leap M5:12 for joy for your reward will be great in
heaven, L6:23c for these are the same things their forefathers used to do
to the prophets M5:12c before you.
L6:24 "But bad news for you rich persons, because you are having your
fill of comforts.
L6:25 "Bad news you who are well fed now, because you will go hungry.
"Bad news for you who are happy now because you will sorrow and cry.
L6:26 "Bad news for you whenever all the people praise you. Because these
same things are what the false prophets did to their forefathers.
L6:27 "But to those listening I tell you, continue to love your enemies and do good to those hating you, L6:28 bless those cursing you, pray for those who are insulting you. L6:29 To him that strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also; and from him that takes away your outer garment, do not withhold even the undergarment. L6:30 Give to everyone asking you, and from the one taking your things away do not request back.
M7:12 Therefore everything that you want people to do to you, you must also do to them; this is in fact what the Law and the prophets means. L6:32 "For if you love those loving you, of what credit is that to you? For even criminals love those loving them. L6:33 So if you only do good to those doing good to you, really what credit is that to you? Even criminals do the same. L6:34 Also, if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, of what credit is that to you? Even criminals lend to criminals that they may get back equally as much.
L6:35 Also continue to love your enemies, do good and lend without hoping for anything extra back; and you will be much rewarded, and you will become Sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. L6:36 Continue being forgiving, just as your father is forgiving.
M7:1 "Stop judging so that you may not
be judged; M7:2 for in what judgements you use, so you will be judged; and
with the rulings that you are measuring out, they will measure out to you.
L6:37 Stop condemning, and you will never be condemned. Forgive, and you
will be forgiven.
L6:38 Practice giving, and people will give to you. A good measure pressed
down, shaken together and overflowing will be given into your lap. For the
measure that you measuring out, is what they will measure out in return
to you."
L6:39 He then also spoke an illustration to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Both will fall into a pit, will they not? L6:40 A pupil is not above his teacher, but everyone that is perfectly instructed will become like his teacher.
L6:41 Why do you look at the speck of saw dust that is in your brother's eye, but do not see the rafter that is in your own eye? L6:42 How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, allow me to extract the speck of saw dust that is in your eye,' while you your do not even see the rafter that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First extract the rafter from your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly how to extract the speck that is in your brothers eye.
M7:15 "Be wary of false prophets that come to you in sheep's clothing, but inside are ravenous wolves. M7:16 By there fruits you will recognise them. People never gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles, do they? M7:17 Likewise every good tree produces good fruit, but every rotten tree produces useless fruit; M7:18 A good tree cannot bear useless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce good fruit. M7:19 Every tree not producing good fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. M7:20 So in reality, you will recognise them by their fruits. L6:44 For each tree is known for its own fruit. People do not gather figs out of thorns, nor do they cut grapes from a thorn bush.
L6:45 A good man produces good things out of the treasure of his good heart, but an evil man produces what is bad out of his corrupt treasure; for his mouth speaks from what fills his heart.
L6:46 "So why then, do you call me 'Lord and master!' when you do not do the things I tell you? M7:21 "Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord and master' will gain entry into the Kingdom of the heavens, but the one carrying out the objectives of my Father who is in the heavens will. M7:22 Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord and master, did we not prophesy in your name, and exorcise demons in your name, and perform many powerful acts in your name?' M7:23 And at that time I will declare to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you frauds.
L6:47 I will explain to you what a person is like who comes to me and listens to my words and acts on them:
M7:24 "Everyone that hears these statements of mine and obeys them is like a prudent man, L6:48 who dug down deep and laid a foundation upon the bedrock M7:25 and built his house. M7:25 And when the rain poured down and the (L6:48 river) floods came and (L6:48 dashed against the house) and the winds blew and lashed against the house L6:48 it was not strong enough to shake it M7:25c and it did not cave in, L6:48c it being so well built M7:25c because it had its foundations on the bedrock. M7:26 On the other hand, everyone hearing these statements of mine and not carrying them out them will be like a stupid man, who built his house on sand L6:49 with no foundation. M7:27 So when the rain poured down and the floods came and the winds blew and struck against the house it caved in, and was completely destroyed.
M5:13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt losses its strength, how will its saltiness be restored? It's strength gone it is no longer use able for any thing but to be thrown outside and people trampled on.
M5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city cannot be hid when located on the top of a hill. M5:15 When people light a lamp they do not put it under a measuring basket, but upon the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house. M5:16 So also let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and give praise to your father who is in the heaven.
M5:17 "Do not think I came to destroy the Law or the prophets. I came not to destroy it but to complete it; M5:18 for truly I tell you heaven and earth would come to an end before one letter or part of a letter passes away from the law before everything takes place. M5:19 Whoever puts aside one of these least commandments and teaches mankind to that effect, he will be summonsed last in relation to the Kingdom of the heavens. As for anyone who acts on them and teaches them, this one will be summonsed first in relation to the Kingdom of the heavens. M5:20 For I tell you that if your own good wisdom does not show itself more and better than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the Kingdom of the heavens.
M5:21 "You heard it was said to those of ancient times, 'You must not murder; and whoever does commit a murder will answer to the courts of justice.' M5:22 However, I say to you everyone who remains angry with his brother will answer to the courts of justice; and whoever slanders his brother will answer to the supreme Court; whereas whoever says, 'You moron! will be liable to the Gehenna fire.
M5:23 "If when your bringing your gift to the alter you remember that your brother holds something against you, M5:24 leave your gift in front of the alter, go away and first make peace with your brother, then when you come back, offer your gift.
M5:25 "Try settling matters quickly with the one complaining against you at law, while you are on the way to court with him, so that the complainant may not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the court guard, so that you get thrown into prison. M5:26 I tell you for a fact, You will certainly not come out until you have paid over every last penny.
M5:27 "You heard it was said, 'You must not commit adultery.' M5:28 But I say to you that every one that keeps on looking at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. M5:29 If, that right eye of yours is causing you problems, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better for part of you to be lost than for your whole body to be thrown into Gehenna. M5:30 Again, if your right hand is giving you problems, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to end up in Gehenna.
M5:31 "Also is was said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.' M5:32 However, I say to you that every one divorcing his wife, except on a statement of fornication, subjects her to adultery, and whoever this divorced woman marries commits adultery.
M5:33 "Again you heard it was said to those of ancient times, 'You must not swear an oath falsely, but you must carry out your vows to Yhwh.' M5:34 However, I tell you: Never swear an oath, by heaven because it is Gods throne; M5:35 nor by earth because it is his footstool for his feet; nor by Jerusalem because it is the city of the great king. M5:36 Nor by your head must you swear an oath, because you cannot turn one hair white or black. M5:37 Just let your word Yes mean Yes and your No mean No; for the corrupt person swears an oath by things in excess of these.
M5:38 "You heard that it was said 'Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.' M5:39 However, I tell you: Do not fight bad people; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other also to him. M5:40 And if a person wants to take you to court to get possession of your inner garment, let him have your outer garment also. M5:41 And if someone under authority impresses you into service for a mile go with him two miles. M5:42 Give to the one asking, and do not turn away one that wants to borrow from you.
M5:43 "You heard it was said 'You must love your neighbour and hate your enemy.' M5:44 However I say to you: love your enemies and to pray for those harassing you; M5:45 so that you prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon bad people and good and makes it rain upon just people and unjust. M5:46 For if you love those loving you what reward can you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same thing? M5:47 And if you acknowledge your brothers only, what extraordinary thing are you doing? Do not the peoples of the nations do the same thing? M5:48 You would then be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
M6:1 "Take good care not to practice self righteousness in front of people to be observed by them; otherwise you will receive no rewards from your Father who is in the heavens. M6:2 Hence when you forgive others, do not blow your own trumpet, just as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men, Truly I tell you, they are receiving there full reward. M6:3 But when you forgive, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, M6:4 so that your forgiving may be in secret; then your Father who is looking on in secret will repay you.
M6:5 "Also when you pray you should not be as the hypocrites: because they like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners so as to be visible to people. Truly I tell you, they are receiving there full reward. M6:6 You however, when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father in secret; then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. M6:7 But when praying do not say the same things over and over again, just as the peoples of the nations do, for they think they will get heard because of there use of many words. M6:8 So, do not make yourselves like them, for God your Father knows what things you need before ever you ask him.
M6:9 "Pray this way: 'Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. M6:10 Let your Kingdom come. Let your objective take place on the earth as it does in heaven. M6:11 Give us our bread for today; M6:12 and forgive us our legal dues, as we also have forgiven those who owe us. M6:13 And do not test us, but rescue us from wicked ones.' M6:14 "Because if you let people off their wrong doing to you, your heavenly Father will also let you off; M6;15 but if you do not let people off of their wrong doing to you, neither will your Father let you off your wrong doing.
M6:16 "When your fasting, do not look like the miserable hypocrites who distort their faces so that they appear to people to be fasting. Truthfully I tell you, they are getting their full reward. M6:17 But when you fast, oil your head and wash your face, M6:18 So that you do not appear to be fasting to other people, but to your Father who is in secrecy; so that your Father who is looking on in secrecy will repay you.
M6:19 "Stop saving up treasures for yourselves on earth where moth and rust consume and thieves break in and steal. M6:20 Rather save up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and thieves do not break in and steal. M6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
M6:22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If then your eye is true, as a person you will be illuminated; M6:23 but if your eye is corrupt, as a person you will be in darkness. If therefore the light in you is in darkness, how great that darkness is!
M6:24 "No one can serve two masters; for he will either hate one and love the other, or he will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and the god of riches. M6:25 "Because of this I tell you: Stop worrying about your lives as to what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your bodies as to what you will wear. Is not life more than just food and the person more than clothing? M6:26 Carefully observe the birds of the sky, they do not sow seed or reap and gather into storehouses; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth more than they are? M6:27 Who of you by worrying can add one hour to his life?
M6:28 Also, why are you worrying about clothing,? Take a lesson from the lilies of the field, how they grow; They do not work, nor do they spin; M6:29 but I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these. M6:30 If now, God clothes the growths of the field, which are here today and the next are thrown into the incinerator, will he not much rather cloth you ones of little trust? M6:31 So never worry saying, 'What are we to eat? or 'What are we to drink?' or 'What are we to wear?' M6:32 For all those things the nations are eagerly pursuing. For your heavenly Father knows you need these things.
M6:33 "Keep on then seeking first the Kingdom and his good wisdom and all these things will be added to you. M6:34 Never worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have its own worries. Each day has enough troubles of it own.
M7:6 "Keep on asking, and it will be given to you; Keep on seeking, and you will find; Keep on knocking, and it will be opened to you. M7:8 For everyone asking receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking it will be opened.
M7:9 Or who is the man among you who when his son asks for bread, he will not hand him a stone, will he? M7:10 Or if he asks for a fish, he will not hand him a snake, will he? M7:11 If therefore although you are bad, you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly father who is in the heavens give good gifts to those asking him?
M7:13 "Enter through the narrow entrance; because large and wide is the entrance leading off into destruction, and many are the ones passing through it; M7:14 whereas narrow is the entrance and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.
M7:28 Now when Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at his way of teaching; M7:29 for he was teaching with an authority, and not as their scribes. L7:1 When he had completed all his statements to the people in the audience M8:1 he come down from the mountain and great crowds followed him.
Jesus heals army officers servant.
L7:1c Entering into Capernaum, L7:2 a centurion army officers servant,
who was valued highly, was ill and close to death. L7:3 When he heard about
Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to request him to come and save his servant.
L7:4 Those that came to Jesus appealed earnestly to him, saying: "He is worthy
of having you do this for him, L7:5 for he loves our people and it was he
who built the synagogue for us." L7:6 So Jesus went with them.
M8:5 When he had entered into Capernaum, cL7:6 and got neat to the house, the army officer who had already sent his friends to him M8:5c came to him, entreating him M8:6 saying "Sir my manservant is laid up in the house with paralysis, in terrible pain." M8:7 He said to him; "When I get there I will cure him." M8:8 The centurion replied L7:6 "Sir, do not trouble yourself, for I am not fit to have you enter in under my roof. L7:7 For this reason I did not presume myself worthy to come to you. But just say the word, and let my servant be healed. L7:8 For I too am a man placed in authority, having soldiers under me, and I tell to this one, 'Go!' and he goes, and to another, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my servant, 'Do this!' and he does it." L7:9 When Jesus heard these things he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him said: M8:10 "I tell you the truth I have found no one in Israel with so much a faith." M8:11 But I tell you many will come from the east and west and sit at the table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob at the Kingdom of the heavens; M8:12 while the heirs to the Kingdom will be thrown into darkness outside where their crying and grinding of teeth will be. M8:13 Then Jesus said to the army officer; "Go. et it happen for you, just as it is according to your faith." And the manservant was healed in that hour. L7:10 When those that had been sent out got back to the house, they found the servant in good health.
Jesus resurrects widows only son. John
sends messengers to Jesus.
John declared to be the greatest servant of God up until then.
L7:11 Following this he travelled to a city called Nain, along with his disciples and a large crowd travelling with him. L7:12 As he got near the city gate, see there was a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, who was also a widow. A considerable crowd from the city was with her. L7:13 When the Lord caught sight of her, he was moved with sympathy for her, and he said to her: "Stop crying!" L7:14 and coming forward he touched the coffin carrier, and the bearers stood still, he said: "Young man, I tell you to Get up!" L7:15 And the dead man sat up and started to speak, and he handed him back to his mother. L7:16 Now fear took hold of them all, and they began to praise God, saying: "A great prophet has stood up among us," and "God has turned his attention to his people." L7:17 Now this news concerning him spread out into all Judea and the surrounding country.
L7:18 Now John's disciples reported to him all these things. M11:2 So while John was in prison he heard about these works of the Christ. L7:19 Summoning two of his disciples he sent them to the Lord to ask: "Are you the coming one or are we to expect a different one? L7:20 When they came up to him these men said: "John the Baptist dispatched us to you to ask, "Are you the coming one or are we to expect another?" L7:21 In that hour he cured many of sickness and serious diseases and corrupt spirits, giving many blind people the power of sight. L7:22 He answered them in this way. "When you get back, report to John what you have seen and heard: the blind are receiving sight, the lame are walking, the lepers are being cleansed and the deaf are hearing, the dead are being raised up, the poor are being told the good news. L7:23 Fortunate are those who do not find a problem with me."
L7:24 When the messengers of John had left, he started to talk to the crowds about John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed being tossed by the wind? L7:25 What then, did you go to see? A man dressed in soft outer robes? Why, those M11:8 wearing soft garments L7:25c of magnificent dress live in luxury in royal houses. L7:26 So then, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, and I tell you far more than a prophet. M11:10 This is the one about who it is written, 'Look! I myself am sending out my messenger to face you, who will prepare the way of you.' (Mal 3:1) M11:11 Truthfully I tell you, there has not been born of women any greater than John the Baptist; but the least important person in the heavenly Kingdom of God is greater in rank than he is." M11:12 "Because from the days of John the Baptist until right now the Kingdom of the heavens is moving forward, and those pushing forward are seizing it. M11:13 For all the prophets and the Law, prophesied until John; M11:14 and if you will except it, he is Elijah who was destined to come.' M11:15 The one who has ears let him listen. L7:29 So all the people and the tax collectors, who had been baptised with John's baptism when they heard this, declared God to be right and just. L7:30 But the Pharisees and those learned in the law, disregarded this counsel from God to them, as they had not been baptised by him.
L7:31 "With who can I compare the people of this generation, and who are they like? L7:32 They are like children sitting in a market place shouting out to one another, saying, 'We played the flute for you, but you did not dance; we wailed but you did not weep or M11:17 beat yourselves in grief.' L7:33 Likewise John the Baptist came neither eating nor drinking, but you people say, 'He has a demon.' L7:34 The son of man has come eating and drinking, but you people say, 'Look! A gluttonous man and wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' M11:19 So was wisdom proved by all its offspring?"
M11:20 He then began to reprimand the ci
